Launched in 2001, STAR Plus and STAR News are two of the network's most successful channels.

In November 2006, STAR Gold and STAR One were launched in UK on BSkyB. STAR Gold and STAR One join STAR Plus as part of the Style & Culture Mix. Star News continues to be available as part of the News & Events Mix. STAR Plus and STAR News continue to be available as subscription channels on Virgin Media.

Today the STAR network broadcasts over 50 services in seven languages and offers a comprehensive choice of entertainment, sports, movies, music, news and documentaries.

Reaching more than 300 million viewers in 53 countries across Asia, STAR is watched by over 173 million people every week.

In the UK, STAR News became the first 24-hour news channel from Asia, within one month of its launch it brought to South Asian audiences in the UK the very first pictures and 24 hour coverage of the Gujarat earthquake. STAR Plus within one year of launch was voted by the UK's cable viewers as Favourite International Cable Channel in the 2002 Scorpio Multimedia Cable TV Awards.
